![]() Nobody gets mad at modders for adding Shrek into Skyrim. As long as you add some value to that taken sprite like animation and xml code, you should sleep fine at night. Which if the sprites and code have all been changed, it’s a new game anyways and not a private server. Unless they are trying to avoid a DMCA because they intend to profit from the private server. Mostly everything is from prod, the sprites to the code. It does not matter if you use a sprite from Pokemon or a Gameboy game. Any of the prod ones or even something out of a Nintendo 64 game. You can get right into it, get some reference material or use another sprite as a base. 2.3: Starting Your Sprite Know what you want to create and know what size it should be. What's going on with that cube shading compared to the other? Some don’t have the shading they should have. Some enemies could have been made much clearer if they just used another color for eyes and such. I tend to add a bit of saturation, just different style choices. ![]() Their highlights on rings and some armor is pure white. Rather than adding a little bit of blue to give the grays more substance. They tended to not shift the Hue at all when shading, only Saturation and Value. Notice some things, pull the eyedropper out and analyze some colors. Search for LofiObj5 and LofiObj6, they hold a lot of the standard items. The files are straight from prod and quite messy. Download and extract “Rotmg Assets.zip” to get access to all the sprite sheets. ![]() I have made the prod sprites available in the Google Drive that holds the files for Aseprite. So make the sprites without any transparency except for the background to avoid issues.Ģ.2: Prod Sprites It is beneficial to view some of the sprites in the original RotMG (prod) to see some of their specific colors and base shapes. The pixel is either solid or not there at all. If any pixel has transparency, it will be turned into a solid color. Along with that, Flash private servers can’t make use of transparency, the Alpha. If you have a white background, your item will have a white square around it. Sprites need a completely transparent background. Map Tiles: 8x8 (Can be combined to form larger sizes) 32x32 or higher is much harder to start spriting in because there is more space to cover. However some private servers are able to use any sprites like 32x32 or higher. As well as Edit>Preferences>Grid set to 8x8 so when you double click it will select an 8x8 square.Ģ.1: RotMG Sprite Standards For Flash based RotMG private servers it is easiest to use 8x8 or 16x16 sprites because those are natively supported. To keep all your sprites the right size, put the checked background to 8x8. You can adjust this option in Edit>Preferences>Background. This is easy to manage in Aseprite as the program has a checked background. For most private server purposes, the size of the sprites used are 8x8 or 16x16 pixels. I provide this link so nobody is limited on spriting because they are unable to buy or build Aseprite.ġ.2: Ase Layout Click New File and get used to the program. You are free to buy Aseprite off of Steam. Open the folder that was created, go to Aseprite\build\bin and double click Aseprite application. Download the file, right click and extract. Here is a Google Drive that contains Aseprite. “But Captain, Aseprite costs money!”, well “Yar Har!”. I recommend Aseprite because its very easy to use, has checked backgrounds, fluid color selection, file recovery, animation ability, and grid lines. ![]() I can only help here if your operating system is Windows. 1.1: Ase Setup (Windows) Before spriting you need a program.
